ABOUT DANA

As an Independent Educational Consultant, I enjoy getting to know each high schooler I work with and supporting families in making important decisions. While I enjoy helping with every facet of the college application process, the best part of the job is ensuring that each student presents their best self in their own unique voice and has fun doing it. Prior to founding Kanfer College Consulting, I practiced law for 29 years and proudly served for twenty-five years as a judicial law clerk for two United States District Court magistrate judges. In 2017, when the time came for my oldest son to apply to college, I assisted with college applications and essays and realized that the researching, writing, editing, organizational, and decision-making skills I developed as a lawyer were the same skills needed to guide students through the complex and dynamic college application process. Over the past eight years I have honed these skills and increased my “college knowledge” by completing the University of California Irvine’s Independent Educational Consulting certificate program. Through this program, comprised of seven courses and 300+ classroom hours, I’ve solidified the skills, knowledge, and resources I need to successfully guide students and families through the college admissions process. To stay engaged and up-to-date in this constantly evolving industry, I am an active associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and regularly participate in college tours and professional conferences.
